Monthly skating review: progress and goals adjustment

The first 3 weeks of December I was able to skate consistently 2, 3 times per week. Then... break for 2 weeks. One of the reason was that the ice schedule is different during kids vacations, but the real reason is that one of my cats, Toto, only 3 years old, got severely sick. What it seamed to be a severe flu/cold it turned into FIP, feline peritonitis, affecting all body, including the brain. We scrambled to get the diagnostic during holidays, than we were forced to prepare to say goodby because there is no treatment...  Well except something experimental, 84 daily, very painful, and very expensive shots. We scrambled then to research if it is safe, got a real chance of success, can we afford it... And at this point I'm happy to report Toto is under treatment and improving slightly each day.

Going back to my skating, it is still about adjusting the blade alignment. Read here the situation with my current boots. I think I'll have to thread gently and gather opinions from different sources and different bootfitters.

Aside from that, I am actually able to skate more freely than the last 2 years, so there is some joy in skating. There is also value in exercising. The only thing missing is the possibility to work towards progress, I'm just not feeling secure enough in the boots/ blade situation.

The plan is to keep doing what I'm doing.
